One philosophy has stayed with me for years. It was shared with me by Sri Ravindra Chamaria, Chairman of The Infinity Group and who also serves as Vice Chairman on the advisory board of Akshaya Patra the world’s largest NGO-run school meal programme. The simplicity of the philosophy is what makes it powerful.
He said:
20% for yourself.
20% for your family.
20% for society.
20% for your country.
20% for religion.
And if you can distribute your resources, energy, and attention this way, you will live a meaningful life. What I liked most about this thought was its balance.
Most people swing completely to one side. Some only focus on personal success. Some sacrifice themselves entirely for others. Some become highly spiritual but disconnected from practical responsibilities.
This philosophy quietly reminds us that life is not meant to be one-dimensional.
You cannot ignore yourself
You cannot ignore family
You cannot ignore society
And you also cannot live without values and a larger sense of purpose.
Over time, I have realized that meaningful living is less about achieving one big thing and more about maintaining balance across different responsibilities.
Consistency matters there too.
