Mentorship, I don’t think this is a new concept for us.

Mentorship, I don’t think this is a new concept for us.

If you look at our epics like the Mahabharata or the Ramayana, there was always a mentor guiding the king. The mentor would advise, question, and sometimes challenge. But the final decision always rested with the leader.

I’ve always tried to follow the same approach.

Take advice. Listen carefully. But own your decisions.

Over time, I’ve realised mentorship is not about someone telling you what to do. It’s about someone helping you see what you might be missing. A good mentor doesn’t make decisions easier. In fact, sometimes they make them more uncomfortable because they ask the questions you were quietly avoiding.

They bring clarity, not comfort. And that clarity is valuable, especially when you’re in a leadership role where decisions are rarely black and white.

The best mentors don’t try to create followers. They try to create independent thinkers.
