AI Doesn’t Scare Me. Falling Behind in Learning It Does.

People ask me if AI scares me. Not really.

What worries me is being slower than everyone else in learning it.

I don't believe AI will replace people. I believe people who use AI well will outperform those who don't. Inside our organisation, we're trying to use AI for repetitive work so our team can spend more time solving meaningful problems. But AI has also given me some memorable moments.

One employee once sent me a farewell WhatsApp message... along with the ChatGPT prompt he had forgotten to delete before copying the response.

Another time, I interviewed a candidate whose resume listed almost every professional skill imaginable. It looked impressive until I realised AI had probably written it. I finished the interview still wondering what the candidate was actually good at.

• Those incidents made me smile, but they also reinforced something important.
• AI can generate words. It cannot generate lived experience.
• It can organize information. It cannot replace judgment.

The real advantage won't belong to the people who use AI the most. It will belong to those who combine AI with authenticity, experience and common sense.
